Fractured Reality BackStory
You Do Not Need to Know this, But it may help. Just follow the very simple sim rules and you will be fine.
Fractured Reality Backstory.
Hiro Sumoku, CEO of SumokuCorp, set a task for his research and development department. Bring me a list of technologies that do not exist, but are technically possible, to get me to the other side of the universe in less than a lifetime. In less than a year the department returned with a list of technologies.
- Folding space (Warp Drive, wormholes)
- Temporal displacement (Time Travel)
- Quantum Phasing (Sliding)
As the team presented their research, the old man nodded, sat the papers down, and carefully took sections of each project and laid them across the table. Previously unnoticed by the team, Fmagick Zymurgy steps forward, “Yes, those are the ones”, and starts to rearrange the pages, finally satisfied , he taps them on the table and flips through them like a picture book. Pleased, he hands the stack to Hiro. “See, like this. It should work...Well, at least the math says..”, and is quickly interrupted by the old man's hand swiftly appearing in front of his face. “Shh...” The old mans voice is quiet, but strong,and can be heard in every corner of the room,“Will you build it for me?”. Fmagick simply nods silently.
Within a year the craft is almost ready for launch, all the strange jokes the crew seem to keep playing on each other is a thing of the past. Crew members disappearing in the middle of a test, only to be found in their bunk, and denying all knowledge of the test. Still no one has explained how the whole bridge changed from red to blue. They are a bunch of scientists and explorers, well, a lot of them, some I think they just brought along for entertainment. Still, no one is telling.
Finally the day arrives, Fmagick seems concerned, Hiro is excited, like a little boy at Christmas, The the order is given, the drive is engaged, and the ship vanishes…. as expected.
That was 2 years ago.
The bridge seems to be orbiting a planet, large portions of the ship still seem to be traveling through space while other sections seem to have crash landed on some planets in distant parts of the universe. Most of the crew disappeared when the drive was activated, some have returned, with missing or scrambled memories. People will disappear and reappear while walking down corridors, and have no knowledge of it. Fmagick is still here, he wanders around trying to fix the ship, and collecting samples, he seems to be looking for something. who knows if that is the best idea, every time he does something to the ship strange things happen.

What this means to you.
Absolutely nothing, you need to know none of it.
You have a wide choice of characters available to you, anything from ships scientist, to one of the planet natives, to someone who just kind of “walked in”.
The things you will be asked are probably something like what is your name, how did you get here, who do you work for, etc. A common answer for new visitors is something like "I really don't remember anything before I arrived here"
Explore, and talk to the people you encounter. Decide who you are and what you are doing.
